No license is required, no previous experience is necessary. In Spain, small, low-powered boats can be piloted without a nautical license – and we have four models that fall into that category. You take the helm from the very first moment.

The Marion 450 is the most sought-after: five people, sundeck, awning, swim ladder and anchor. The Marion 500 is an equivalent alternative with a little more space. The Shiren is more compact, perfect for two or three people who want agility. And there’s a fourth option for those who prefer something different – we’ll show it to you when you book.

Before leaving we give you an instruction at the dock: starting, rudder, basic rules of the road and how to anchor. About 15 minutes. It’s not an exam – it’s the minimum to get you out safely and confidently. If at any time you prefer someone else to do the sailing, we also have a skippered charter option.

What does it mean to sail without a nautical license?

In Spain, maritime regulations establish that in order to drive recreational boats exceeding certain power and length limits, it is necessary to have a nautical license. However, below these limits, any person of legal age can drive a boat without any type of license.

The unlicensed boats that we offer at Sitges Rent Boat meet exactly these requirements: lengths and powers within the margins allowed by Spanish regulations. This means that you can be the skipper of your own boat in a completely legal way, without ever having set foot in a nautical school.

All you need is to be of legal age, listen carefully to the initial instruction we give you at the dock and have common sense at sea. It’s as simple as that.

Who are unlicensed boats ideal for?

The profile of the customer who chooses unlicensed boats is very varied:
